24 Hours in Bourne
11 - 12 August 2026
Report
Tom Robinson runs a whole bunch of hides near Bourne in Rutland. He was running a August special with a steep discount and I struggle to resist a bargain.
The day started very early, 5am at the Hare hide. It's a slightly odd combination of both glass and snood. The glass isnt photographic quality but you do get a great view. The Snood was made out some pretty stiff plastic but it sort of worked. The light here is stunning. There are two hare hides - a solo and a double. For the morning session the solo has by far the better light.
In the middle of the day I went to the famous pond hide. It seemed I wasnt the only person who loves a bargain as the pond hide was a little overbooked with 4 of us squeezing into a hide designed for 3. I did get a few visits from the Kingfisher, but the midday light was pretty brutal.
You can book these hides for yourself here
