Description

The Red Fox is a medium-sized wild dog known for its reddish-brown fur, white-tipped tail, and black legs and the backs of its ears. Adult foxes measure between 45 and 90 centimetres in body length, with a bushy tail adding another 30 to 55 centimetres. They usually weigh between 5 and 10 kilograms, with males being slightly bigger than females. This adaptable animal has the widest range of any wild meat-eating mammal, living across the Northern Hemisphere from the Arctic tundra to the deserts of North Africa. In Britain, Red Foxes live in almost all environments, including forests, grasslands, mountains, and more and more in towns and cities, where they have become very successful. The Red Fox can come in a variety of colours beyond the usual red. Some have dark or silver-grey fur. However, all colour types have the same white tip on their tail, which helps to identify them.
