This was a social visit to Leeds Photography Hides (actually nearer Bradford, but anyway) to hang out with some fellow photographers.

This sort of hide isn't usually my first choice, many of the perches provided look very contrived to me, and are also quite distinctive. This means that you can see the exact same photo all over social media (eg the Kestrel on the Public Footpath sign). But still, Kestrels are a great bird to photograph - full of character.

Somewhat typically, the best photos moments seemed to occur on the most obviously fake perches. My favourite is the Kestrel pair together, there's one where it looks like they are kissing. It's actually the male begging and the female telling him to get stuffed.
