On this visit primarily to Bempton Cliffs as usual I was able to stay much longer - a whole five days. This meant it was possible to visit Flamborough Head and Filey Brigg also.
Bempton was it's usual self, this time though I was lucky with the flowers which made for a lovely background of a Razorbill. I was on my own too, so got up even earlier than I normal would to make the most of the first of the light (and much quieter viewing platforms).
Flamborough proved to be a rich hunting ground for Fulmar (one of my favourite seabirds!) with them flying at eye level over the cliffs.
I've not been to Filey Brigg before and it was a bit nerve wracking not wanting to be stranded in the tide. I found something I'd not seen before - a Dunlin in breeding plumage. And something I was not expecting - a dopey juvenile Harbour Seal, dozing away as dogs ran past it. I presumed it dead and started to photograph it. It was quite the shock when it rolled around and looked straight at me!
