Northern Sea Eagles
genus Haliaeetus
Northern Sea Eagles are large birds of prey known for their impressive size, wide wings, and tails that are either wedge-shaped or rounded. Most of these birds have mainly brown or dark feathers, with some white on their head, tail, or body that appears as they get older. They mainly eat fish and live in coastal areas, large rivers, and lakes across the Northern Hemisphere, including places like Scandinavia, Russia, North America, and parts of Asia. They hunt by sitting on high perches or flying high in the sky, then diving down to catch fish from the water using their strong claws. Their loud, barking calls can be heard across open water. The White-tailed Eagle has been successfully brought back to Scotland and is now spreading further south.
